Oleksandr Svishchov: “Dynamo Lviv – a great club with great traditions celebrates its 75th anniversary
This week, the Dynamo Lviv water polo club celebrated its 75th anniversary. The event brought together numerous guests, including club veterans, coaches, players of different generations, and officials.
During the celebrations, the honorary president of WC Dynamo Lviv Oleksandr Svishchov recalled the glorious history of Dynamo, noted its significant achievements and contribution to the development of Ukrainian water polo. The club also redeemed a commemorative postage stamp developed jointly with Ukrposhta.
Interesting exhibitions were organized for the guests of the event: an interactive and printed photo exhibition, as well as an exhibition of trophies won by the team over the years. One of the exhibits was the first ball played by Dynamo back in 1949.
“Dynamo Lviv is not just a club, it’s a legend! Over its 75-year history, it has won many titles and awards, and has become a real business card not only for Lviv but for the whole of Ukraine,” says Oleksandr Svishchov.
“Dynamo Lviv has been the most titled water polo club in Ukraine since 1949. And since our country’s independence, Dynamo Lviv has become an 11-time champion of Ukraine, a 13-time winner of the Cup and a 7-time winner of the Super Cup of Ukraine. Since 1949, it has been the only team in Ukraine that has not missed a single Ukrainian championship.
Six Dynamo players participated in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics as part of the Ukrainian national team. Since then, it has been the only men’s team to represent Ukraine at the Olympic Games.
Speaking at the anniversary, Oleksandr Svishchov, President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation and Honorary President of WC Dynamo Lviv, thanked all the generations that contributed to the development of the club. He also expressed confidence that Dynamo will continue to build on its glorious traditions and win new victories.
“First of all, I would like to thank all generations of WC Dynamo Lviv: the club’s veterans, coaches, and players of different generations. They have made a great contribution to the development of the team. Today, we have an example of past generations of how to achieve high results. I know that the current players will multiply and glorify the club not only in Ukraine but also in the international arena. I congratulate everyone involved on the anniversary,” said Oleksandr Svishchov, Honorary President of VC Dynamo Lviv.
The head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, said that Dynamo is a brand for Lviv and the entire region. He wished the club prosperity and new successes.
Hryhoriy Kozlovskyy, Honorary President of FC Ruh Lviv, said: “Dynamo Lviv is not just a team, it is a family! There is an atmosphere of unity and mutual assistance, where every player feels the support of his teammates!
For me, WC Dynamo Lviv is one of the symbols of sporting Lviv. Today, the team is showing excellent results, developing and moving forward. I am confident that this club has a great future, people here live with their hearts to develop and increase the glory of the team.”
Oleksandr Svishchov added: “Dynamo water polo players are not only talented athletes, but also true patriots of Ukraine. They win victories not only for themselves, but also for the whole country, glorifying its name in the international arena. 75 years is just the beginning! “Dynamo Lviv has a glorious past, a brilliant present and a promising future. The club has many more victories and achievements ahead of it!”
