Oleksandr Svishchov: “Dynamo Kyiv became the champions of Ukraine
The final round of the Ukrainian Women’s Championship (Major League) took place in Lviv from May 31 to June 2.
The water polo club “Dynamo Amazons” – Children and Youth Sports School named after Y. Kutenko took first place in the championship (21 points), the Kyiv team was second (15 points), and the Donetsk region team was third (0 points).

“I am grateful, first of all, to our Armed Forces for allowing us to hold the competition. And to the girls for fighting and showing their character. I am very grateful to our girls for the victory,” said Oleksandr Svishchov, President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation.
Next season, the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation intends to increase the number of teams in the Women’s Premier League.

Oleksandr Svishchov noted: “The war has had a strong impact on women’s teams, most of the girls left for abroad after the full-scale invasion began. Many are still there, particularly in Germany. I hope that next season, women’s teams from Kharkiv and Dnipro will enter the league and we will be able to return to the five-team format in the Major League. And also to reach the quality of the championship in the pre-war period.”

As Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi noted, this year it is more difficult to organize such tournaments than in previous years, and so many thanks to everyone who was involved in the organization, to the girls who fought. In fact, everyone won.

The head of the Lviv Regional Swimming Federation, Andriy Gutnyk, congratulates the Lviv teams, both boys and girls, who have once again become champions of Ukraine. The Lviv Regional Swimming Federation will continue to train our water polo players as much as possible so that they can continue to be champions of Ukraine.

“Today we are focusing on the development of children’s water polo in Ukraine. Without mass interest and popularization among children, we will not have good competition in adult teams. Again, let’s think about Lviv, where there is a massive interest, there are many schools and kids want to play in the pool. And we are well aware that in order to raise the level among children, we need to train young professionals and organize highly qualified coaching schools for them,” added Mr. Svishchov.
As the President of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine, Oleksandr Yuriyovych Svishchov makes a significant contribution to the development of this sport. His dedication to water polo, his leadership and his business skills have helped make the sport more popular and successful in Ukraine. For his contribution to the development of the country’s sports life, the Obozrevatel newspaper named Oleksandr Svishchov among the top 10 businessmen in Western Ukraine who are actively developing sports.
