The third round of the Ukrainian water polo championship among the men’s Super League teams has ended

The third round of the Ukrainian Men’s Super League water polo championship took place in Kamianske from March 28 to 31. The lead is currently held by Water polo club Dynamo Lviv, but the fight for second place remains tense, and the NTU KhPI-SVSM is claiming the silver medal. Kharkiv and SHVSM VK Mariupol, both with 21 points after ten matches.

The tournament’s chief judge, Valery Zavizion, emphasized the smooth organization of the third round. He also noted that the level of the teams has increased, and the fight for second place has become even more interesting.

The next round demonstrated a lively struggle for the top four who will compete for medals. Water polo club Dynamo Lviv continues its dominant position, but the intrigue for second place remains open. The teams now have many young players, and the war has led to some water polo players being abroad or in the army. However, on the positive side, it is worth noting the return of many experienced players who are playing on the field again.

President of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine Oleksandr Svishchov commented on the third round of the Super League:

“Currently, we have the leader, Water polo club Dynamo Lviv, and the teams that will compete for the prizes: VK Mariupol, NTU KhPI-SVSM, LFKS-Aquatico, KIVS, and the Zakarpattia region team. In the next round, we plan to make live broadcasts, because the fans will see a lot of good and intriguing matches. We understand that there may be a limited number of people in the stands because of the war, so it will be possible to watch the matches online. At the moment, it is a shame that many young water polo players are abroad. On the one hand, this is an experience for young players in European teams, on the other hand, the younger generation would have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills by playing for various Super League teams and compete with experienced players. On the positive side, many players who are now over 30 have returned to water polo. I am now looking forward to the next fourth round of the Men’s Super League.”
