Oleksandr Svishchov: “Children are the foundation of our future” – the main emphasis of the second cadence
Oleksandr Svishchov has been re-elected President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation for a new term. This is the second cadence for Svishchov, who first became the head of the federation in June 2021. The voting meeting brought together delegates from all local branches of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation, who expressed their full support for the current head.
Unanimous support and gratitude for the trust
The decision to re-elect Mr. Svishchov was made unanimously by all the delegates present. In his speech, he expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him.
Oleksandr Svishchov said: “I am grateful for the trust of all members of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation. I and all the members of the Presidium will work fruitfully for the development of water polo in Ukraine during the next term.”
Challenges of the first cadence and preservation of sport in times of war
Svishchov emphasized that his first term was marked by serious challenges, the main one being a full-scale war.

“The full-scale war has made serious adjustments to the development of water polo and our lives in general. We worked to keep all the teams together. Many children were evacuated to safe regions of the country and abroad, adult teams were also relocated, including Water polo club Mariupol. We worked to provide the teams with proper conditions for quality training. All the teams were able to hold training camps and prepare for international competitions,” said the President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation.
Priorities for the future: popularization and children’s and youth sports
Speaking about his plans for the next term, Oleksandr Svishchov emphasized the need to actively promote water polo and develop children’s and youth schools.

“If in the past years we worked on preserving water polo in Ukraine, now we have to actively promote and develop children’s and youth schools, because children are the foundation of our future. We have a lot of work to do and I hope that all the challenges we face will be gradually realized,” said Svishchov, expressing his belief in the future success of Ukrainian water polo.
New Presidium and broader contribution to sports
In addition to the president, a new presidium of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation was elected.
They entered it:
- Oleksandr Svishchov,
- Mykola Smirnov,
- Oleksandr Yevtushok,
- Viacheslav Belevtsov,

- Victor Pushaver.
It is worth noting that the activities of Oleksandr Yuriyovych Svishchov are not limited to the management of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation. He actively invests in the development of sports in Ukraine.
In 2022, Lviv opened a modern sports complex called Leoland, which has become an important center of sports life. Recently, for the second time, Ukrainian tennis stars Elina Svitolina and Serhiy Stakhovsky held a master class for more than 160 children from all over Ukraine.
Oleksandr Svishchov, President of the Ukrainian Football Federation, assured that the Federation will continue to actively invest in the development of young athletes, improvement of sports infrastructure and the sports industry in general, as he believes this is the foundation for the future of Ukraine.
