Oleksandr Svishchov on the future of water polo: strategic development, youth support and expansion of the judiciary

An extraordinary conference of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation was held in Lviv, attended by representatives from different regions. The event was headed by the President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation Oleksandr Svishchov, who emphasized the importance of live communication in wartime and the need for strategic development of water polo for several years to come.

“We must strive to develop water polo strategically for several years to come. We want all opinions to be heard, and every water polo specialist and functionary to join the creation of a joint roadmap for the development of our sport,” said Oleksandr Svishchov.

One of the key issues was the discussion of holding the Ukrainian men’s and women’s championships, as well as the development of children’s and youth water polo. The President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation emphasized the importance of attracting young athletes to sports and creating conditions for their professional development.

The conference also discussed the development of judging and the involvement of young arbitrators.

“We need to educate a new generation of referees to ensure quality match services at all levels,” added Svishchov.

Oleksandr Svishchov emphasized that the basis of success is to raise champions from an early age, and junior water polo is a key basis for the future achievements of Ukrainian athletes.

Three Ukrainian coaches, Volodymyr Havrylenko, Timur Shylin and Serhiy Stolyarov, were honored at the conference and presented with certificates of appreciation for their contribution to the development of water polo by the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Matviy Bidnyi. “Thank you all for your participation and support. We work together for the development of water polo in Ukraine,” summarized Oleksandr Svishchov.

Oleksandr Svishchov, actively supports the development of sports in the country, in particular water polo. Thanks to his initiatives and efforts, the organization of sports tournaments is becoming a tradition, which helps to attract young people to sports. Together with Hryhoriy Kozlovskyy, Honorary President of FC Ruh, Svishchov is among the top 10 most influential businessmen in Western Ukraine who actively develop sports infrastructure and support young athletes.
