Oleksandr Svishchov, President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation, wished a Happy New Year and summarized the year for Ukrainian sport
President of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine Oleksandr Svishchov addressed water polo players and all Ukrainians with greetings on the occasion of the New Year and Christmas. He emphasized that 2024 was a difficult year for both the state and water polo, but the federation did everything possible to develop the sport.
“We have participated in many international competitions. Perhaps the results are not yet as good as we would like, but I am confident that in 2025 we will have new victories,” said Svishchov.
He also thanked the defenders of Ukraine and called for continued support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of faith in a common victory.
Greetings from the athletes
The players of the Ukrainian national team also expressed their wishes.
Chingiz Agadzhanov thanked for the support of water polo in difficult times and wished professional achievements and inspiration in 2025.
Oleksandr Dyadyura, captain of the national team, emphasized the priority of children’s water polo: “I wish all the athletes to set goals and work hard to achieve them. Together we are bringing our common victory closer.”
Anastasia Zlenko, a player of the national team, wished peace and further development of water polo in Ukraine, especially in Donetsk and Kramatorsk: “Let the Ukrainian national anthem be played more and more often on the international stage after victorious matches in 2025!“
Roman Gryshchuk noted the resilience of Ukrainians in the most difficult times and expressed his desire to restore water polo in all regions of Ukraine, including Mariupol, Odesa and Kramatorsk.
Strategic development of water polo
Oleksandr Svishchov emphasized the importance of creating a roadmap for the development of water polo in Ukraine in the new year 2025. An extraordinary conference in Lviv identified priorities for the development of children’s and youth sports and the attraction of new talent.
“We must work on the systematic development of water polo so that every specialist can join this cause,” said the President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation.
In 2024, Oleksandr Svishchov received a number of awards, including the 30 Years of Ukraine’s Independence Award for the development of sports potential and the Ministry of Defense Award for volunteer support of the Armed Forces.
“May 2025 bring more light, joy and warmth, and may faith in our strength and victory accompany each of us. Glory to Ukraine!” summarized the President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation.
