Oleksandr Svishchov: “This is an incredible victory! Ukrainian water polo players are in the finals of the European University Games”

On Wednesday, July 20, as part of the European University Games in Łódź (Poland), the water polo team of the Lviv University of Physical Culture named after Ivana Boberskyi defeated the team of the University of Debrecen (Hungary) in the semi-finals.

The University of Debrecen – the national team of the LDUFK named after I. Boberskyi – 15:16 (3:1, 3:3, 5:6, 4:6).

As Oleksandr Svishchov, president of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine, noted, this is an incredible victory, which came at the cost of extraordinary efforts.

“In the course of the match, our athletes lost 2 goals for a long time, and only thanks to perseverance and stubbornness, thanks to sports fortune that comes to strong-spirited and true athletes, our guys managed to break through. Unfortunately, there were no injuries, I really hope, not serious and non-critical. I am also very grateful to the coaching staff, which in the current difficult conditions in Ukraine achieved such high results, won such an important victory, which we all dedicate to our independent state!” Oleksandr Svishchov noted.
