The first water polo tournament in memory of Vitaliy Lisun took place in Kyiv
“I am very grateful to the teams that agreed to come to the tournament in memory of Vitaliy Lisun. It was very important for us to organize the first tournament in his memory in Kyiv, his hometown, where he worked and developed water polo for a long time. Vitaliy was a very decent person, he loved water polo with all his heart and made a lot of efforts to develop our sport. I am grateful to his family who attended the tournament. We honor Vitaliy’s memory and this tournament will only grow in size in the future,” said Oleksandr Svishchov, President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation.

“It is very nice that we were allowed to hold the tournament at this time, when there is military aggression from Russia. Teams have come from all over Ukraine. This is the first time such a competition is being held in Kyiv,” said Valeriy Zavizion, the competition’s chief judge.

“I have worked with Vitaliy for many years. I’ve been the head coach of the Ukrainian national fencing team since 2001 and I remember him from that time. I remember how much his heart and soul ached for the development of water polo in Ukraine, how hard he worked, how he defended the interests of water polo in the ministry and in all regions. Unfortunately, war takes the best. He decided to go to defend Ukraine, and he is an example for many Ukrainians. Unfortunately, he died defending our homeland. I bow low to him and his parents who raised such a son,” recalls Vadym Gutzeit, Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.
